The Mafia association is prosecuted and sometimes hit hard, but continues to exist, to resist and to recruit affiliates. What is the cause of its vitality and its force of resistance and aggression? Has been the effort made by the institutions to eradicate it insufficient or misdirected? To find an answer to these and other similar questions like that the author has examined the origins, the growth, the constitution and the character of the outlaw association and, since he didn’t find full explanations, he dug deeper, beyond that people usually observed. He has found out inside Civil Society the source of recruitment of many staff members and the cause of the grounding of an association so pernicious. He has found out the cause of its vitality and its capability to recruit and to exist in despite of many obstacles and so much persecution. He found out that the root of the Mafia, the Camorra, the 'Ndrangheta and the whole Cosa Nostra is inside Civil Society and he showed us the only possible remedy.
