The High Life

High Life is a five million square foot residential development proposed for the Tseun Kwan O area of Hong Kong. Tseun Kwan O, or TKO, is a rapidly growing neighborhood composed almost entirely of projects of similar scale and program. Like its neighbors, High Life contains over four thousand residential units combined with shopping, entertainment and recreation amenities. But while the typical development model's rigid segregation of private and public components engenders orderly, bland bedroom communities, High Life is designed to function like a microcosm of the city. Dynamically organized program elements and non-hierarchical circulation networks exploit opportunities for varied interaction and urban vitality. This book presents the project through color diagrams, renderings, model photos and text.
