This book is a practical psycho-educational manual designed to help individuals learn positive coping mechanisms and skills to manage distressful emotions and life circumstances. We all deal with stress in our everyday lives to varying degrees. There are many circumstances in life that we have very little to no control over. As much as we may want to change, improve or resolve the issue, we cannot for various reasons.  And by trying to do so, we may worsen and perpetuate the stress we feel. This can cause feelings of frustration, sadness, disappointment, hopelessness and helplessness. During times of distress, we may feel like we want to just check out (dissociate) until the situation changes. We may also wish there was a remote control to life that we could rewind or fast forward to better times.  However, no matter how big our problems are, the solution cannot be to give up. Time doesn’t sit still even though we may do so, and life must go on. The goal of this module is to help individuals develop the motivation and skills necessary to keep going despite the stressors they may face and to do so with a healthier mindset, healthier emotions and functioning at the best capacity possible.
