Frank Hardy is an architect, and a father of four, living in a provincial English town. Looking at future economic prospects for his children, he decides that they should emigrate to the Argentine Republic. After a sea voyage interrupted by a dangerous storm, they arrive in Buenos Aires. Frank takes a risk and buys a large, inexpensive plot of land near settlements of hostile Indians. There are many difficulties, both natural and man-made, as the Hardy family try to make the farm productive and settle into their foreign home. (pocket size paperback with illustrations; includes footnotes defining obscure or uncommon words)
