A touching story of a family of field mice, a mother and four children, driven from their home by a hawk that moved into their area. Forced to flee their home in the approaching winter and, after surviving both a hawk attack and a raging river crossing, they were taken in by a friendly hedgehog. Invited to share his home they spend the winter sharing adventure stories, eating wonderful home cooked meals and developing a friendship that would last forever, a friendship that would take them on many shared adventures in the spring and coming seasons.
