The Moor of Sankore: A Short Story

After living abroad for years, Mamadu finishes his studies at the forgotten University of Sankore in the lost city of Timbuktu. He then flies to Anguené Islands, his homeland. At the airport, the doors of freedom are shut behind him and he understands he has fallen into a trap set up by foreign raiders. He sees the sorrow and grief the enemy burdens the islanders with. Behind the scenes, with a single strike, he paves the road to smuggle back to Timbuktu, and he plants seeds for the raiders’ withdrawal.
