Many professional graphic designers have little or no printing knowledge, whichm ultimately results in lost time and money as files received for print production regularly need to be corrected in prepress. The objectives of this research were four-fold:
• To investigate why many graphic designers seem to lack basic printing technology knowledge upon beginning their professional careers.
• To identify the benefit to the graphic communication industry of educating graphic designers about printing technologies.
• To offer possible solutions to the stated problem.
• To contribute beneficial information to the industry, as there is currently a shortage of
available material concerning this issue.
