The Lake Tanganyika Expedition 1914-1917:
A Primary Source Chronology vol 2: 1916-1933
ByGreat War in Africa Association
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Best known for its flamboyant Commander Geoffrey Basil Spicer Simson, the Africa Lake or Lake Tanganyika Expedition is often referred to by the names of the two British motor-boats, HMS Mimi and HMS Toutou, which travelled overland from Cape Town to Lake Tanganyika to confront the German Navy in 1915 and 1916.
Using Primary Source material in English and French this Chronology places the texts most commonly used for the accounts published to date - both historical and fiction - into the context of the wider campaign in East Africa. As a result, it challenges some of the traditionally held beliefs of the Lake Tanganyika Expedition. This is part 2 of 3.
