Masters Project is the final studio in the graduate design sequence. Students in the course are encouraged to engage in increasingly independent design research. They are also expected to articulate clear intellectual positions that address complex architectural and urban issues. These issues may include the changing character of the city, the nature of social/cultural institutions, and the historical, geographic, and cultural contexts in which they develop. Over the course of the semester, students are expected to explore design as the critical engagement in current issues relating to the discipline, to identify areas of intensive research, and to develop individual conceptual responses in the form of highly articulated project proposals. Successful student projects will gain a substantial degree of resolution and include technical details.
