TO THE COMIC READER, no matter what generation, he needs no introduction. Murphy Anderson's career spanned decades; he was most active from the 1940s through the 1970s, where over time he came to be considered one of the best inkers in the industry. He won many awards for his pencils and inks, including the Alley Award four consecutive years (1963-1966), the Joe Sinnott Inkwell Award, and induction into The Jack Kirby Hall of Fame (1988). Later-generation readers may not be aware that during Anderson's early career he was just as prolific and accomplished as a penciller, as evidenced by the stories presented in this book, his public domain stories from 1942 when he first started in comics, well into 1951. During this time his public domain work graced the pages of publishers Fiction House (notably Star Pirate!) and starting in 1950, Ziff-Davis (including Lars of Mars). THE PUBLICATION OF THIS BOOK (AND MANY MORE) IS ONLY DUE TO THE SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT OF CHRIS PEPIN
