Mamie - Young Gal In The Big City (HC)
Gwandanaland Comics #2967-HC: Russell Patterson's Energetic and Ambitious (If Not Quite Ingenious) New York Beauty - Her Antics from United Comics / Fritzi Ritz #17-36
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
Before MAMIE debuted in the newspapers in 1951, Russell Patterson was already a comic strip legend. His work was part of the great influences which solidified the art deco movement and created what came to be known as the “flapper” style in the 1920s and 1930s. MAMIE was a sort of revival of that era, combining the high-style of New York with the popular “dumb blonde” concept. For the next five years MAMIE was a staple of the Sunday comics, and she was also a regular guest-star in the UNITED COMICS / FRITZI RITZ title #17-36, from where this collection is taken. The Grand Comics Database does not indicate that these are reworks strips from the newspapers, but that is a strong possibility given the practice of the times.
