Harley Hudson dedicated his life, from a young age, to fighting against crime; he used his skills as chemist and entomologist to study how ants were able to seem so powerful while being so small. He discovered that they had a special skill for coordinating their muscles, and he learned that skill. As THE FIREFLY his “strength of insects” gave him seemingly superhuman powers, with the ability to leap long distances, survive underwater, and lift massive objects. In his Fireflier glider-plane he sought out those who would do wrong, and brought them to justice, often accompanied by the beautiful and danger-prone Joan Burton.
