The spelling of Drinnon has become rather standardized in that part of East Tennessee around Hawkins and Hancock Counties. There were many spelling variants used earlier and some remained in places where some of the family migrated. William "Billy" Drinnon and his wife Ellen Amyx originally lived in Hawkins County and later moved to Hancock County. William and his brother Richard account for most by that spelling East Tennessee. But Billie had mostly girls so there are many other names followed in this very large hard cover book with almost 5000 people traced, about 3000 families, an index of nearly 100 pages and almost one thousand obituaries. With this large number of people traced for 8 generations, readers often find that they are related to people they already count as friends.
