India: Essays and Insights by a Gora

These essays were written over a period of four years, most of them for the web entity called Desicritics, based in India, which provided a means of reaching a diverse audience of readers many of who’s ‘home base’ was India. Most of these essays have been arranged in the order of the dates of their publication. The essays deal with a half a dozen subjects which are areas of my personal interest and relate to my own experiences in India and South East Asia. This Digest, like many others, is a compilation of disparate topics, musings, and thinking about ‘roots’ and my personal gnarled branches over a long period. I have had a continued interest in religious belief systems globally and how these have impacted on cultural realities including music development, architecture, art, food and even such things as politics and interpersonal relations. The most important, is perhaps, language usage and the implications it has on world view and personal growth.
