An Index to Precept Upon Precept Volumes 1 & 2

Henry T. Mahan was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 19, 1926. He began pastoring at the young age of twenty-one and had wide experience in the pastoral ministry, and as a Bible Conference speaker. He was pastor of Thirteenth Street Baptist Church, Ashland, Kentucky, for fifty years, having retired in 2003. After Pastor Mahan retired, he continued to travel and to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in many different churches for a number of years. In 2008 Henry and Doris moved to Rocky Mount, Virginia. There they worshipped where his son Paul is the pastor. He continued for several years doing a Sunday morning radio program in Rocky Mount. In May 2019, the Lord was pleased to call our brother home. For his congregation’s spiritual instruction, Pastor Mahan published a weekly bulletin over those fifty years, sharing them by mail with other pastors, churches, and believers around the country. The short articles, covering a period from 1979 to 2003, are published in two volumes titled Precept Upon Precept. Though the volumes have the usual contents listed, many have asked that an index of Scripture reference texts be made available for reference. Many of the articles were written and published without any obvious Scripture reference assigned by Pastor Mahan. Special thanks go to Pastor and Mrs. Marvin Stalnaker for their work in prayerfully seeking to assign a reference text to those articles with titles only. It is our prayer the Lord will further bless these short articles with this added reference tool to the furtherance of the gospel, the comfort of the believer, and the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ.
