In 1995, Miriam Richards, an athletic deaf woman, plunged 1,000 feet from Mt. Hood in Oregon. This was the first major mountain she attempted to summit. Miriam sustained multiple injuries including torn ligaments, a broken jaw, ankle, and worse, internal bleeding from a blood clot near her right eye that threatened to cause brain damage. It took her more than one year to recover from these injuries.
Despite the fall, and later being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Miriam was determined to climb the highest point of each of the 50 states in America. Did she make it?
Open the pages of this book and discover a rare soul, as Miriam recounts her life, the obstacles she overcame, and her determination to meet her high point goal, despite the gradual deteroriation of her body from MS.
“Miriam’s book is a celebration of the human spirit!”
