A homeless man claims to have been transported into the future, where he founded a new religion, and a new society. Now he is back penniless and powerless. He tells this story to Dominic Devine who – strangely enough – has just written a novel with that exact same plot.

It was April 9 1987 that Hiram Blunt purchased the Arc of the Essence, (basically a nice old antique looking box) at an antique store in a town called Hope, NJ– only to get it home and discover, within it, the twelve copper plates upon which were inscribed the story of "How the Great God Bongo Created the World." It took Mr. Blunt most of that year to have it translated (or decoded) from the unknown language and alphabet in which it was written. Unfortunately he died about seven months later, before he could spread the message of Bongo to the world. But all was not lost, because April 9th is also the same day that, ten years later, in 1997 the deceased Hiram Blunt communicated telepathically– from the afterlife– with Mario Vickram Sen and dictated this book, "The High Priest of Prickly Bog," so that all may know the truth.
