Howard Pyle was an American writer, artist, illustrator and teacher with extensive knowledge of medieval stories and legends. He stood out for making sensational drawings in many books and novels (he even worked with Mark Twain’s publications), and he was also a prolific writer with at least sixteen literary works, including the following: The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood (1883), The Ghost of Captain Brand (1896), The Story of King Arthur and His Knights (1903), The Story of the Champions of the Round Table (1905), Stolen Treasure (1907), and The Story of Sir Launcelot and His Companions (1907); among others.
