The prestigious Cavendish Academy of Brooklyn changed its admission policy to award full scholarships to disadvantaged students. But this outrages several students who believe the newcomers will spoil the elite atmosphere of the school.
They decide to take action. They create a role-playing game imitating King Arthur and the Round Table. Each knight has a mission: to kill one of the scholarship students.
Thus begins a wave of some of the most bizarre murders in the history of the NYPD. Deputy Chief Inspector Mag Goldman vows to take down the killers who preyed upon young people who did nothing to offend anyone.
Assisted by Professor Bradley Davison of Queens College, Mag's 'flying squad' of skilled homicide detectives begin to track down the killers. But it is Davison who unravels the mystery of what this homicidal bunch is up to--and how it mimics the Arthurian legends with its Arthur--Lancelot--Guenevere parallels.
Once Davison figures it out, the novel moves headlong to its stunning conclusion and the apprehension of a group of young, misguided killers.
