This book is a new publication by the jazz pianist and educator Tim Richards. It expands on, and takes further, many of the concepts set out in Tim Richard's two volumes 'Exploring Jazz Piano', with additional ideas as well. Each of the fourteen chapters covers a particular technique, illustrated by a series of exercises/etudes, with advice on accompanying left hand styles. The notes for each chapter give clear practical advice not only on what to practice but how to practice. Foremost it is a book that demands to be kept in the practice room. The book is aimed at the intermediate/advanced jazz pianist, familiar with the material covered in Tim Richard's other publications. It is excellent value given the wealth of material within its pages. I recommend the coil bound version, which is compact and sits comfortably on the music stand.
