It is May 1968. The squats are full, the borders are teeming with émigrés, and the streets of Paris are in flames. In this tale of love, suspense, and revolution, a group of young drifters reckon with the chaos of their times, as a wave of student and worker uprisings fill the boulevards, with threats of government conspiracy looming in their wake. When Benjamin, a Tunisian Jew, falls in love with Geneviève, a widow and single mother from the French middle class, their romance collides with the prejudices of the establishment and their own cultural differences. Torn between her lover and her son, Geneviève is confronted with questions of loyalty, while Benjamin, later accused of being responsible for the death of a police officer found dead in the barricades, faces fears of imprisonment and deportation. Will their love prevail over these challenges? Will the country’s leaders be deposed or the army be called in to stop the insurrection? As the turmoil across Paris intensifies, the young rebels discover that the answer lies in the street.
