There is a sense that for the world to become truly peaceful, we are obliged to seek for harmony. This starts from within, with a deep understanding of gratitude and appreciation. We must learn from great minds, and so on each page there is a quotation relating to harmony. From Plato to George Washington, and from Leonardo Da Vinci to Henry Thomas Hamblin, we have much to learn and to be inspired by. The wisdom of the ages calls upon us to seek and to embrace harmony. The artwork created here has made good use of a moving weight, paint, and colour, to synthesize a unique vision of harmony. Each page links a selected image with an uplifting and inspiring quote relating to the harmony that we seek. The forms are two-dimensional representations of musical harmonies. The artwork has been created using a modified pendulum. The pendulum oscillates at two different frequencies simultaneously, and so forms Lissajous figures, a type of harmonograph. The paint brush is attached to the pendulum, and so generates these images. There is an element of artistic input too. The sheet of paper is supported by hand, so that the contact of the brush with the surface is modified, creating variable width strokes, and selectively touching the sheet. Each image is unique. It is a special privilege to see the harmonies emerging.
