The thesis proposed is that a significant amount of brain damage in Alzheimer's Disease is caused by infarction due to fat, bone-marrow or other emboli. These have been commonly documented in certain circumstances, particularly joint replacement or other bony injury.
The toxic properties of commonly-used gaseous anesthetics have also been implicated in brain- cell death by apoptosis.
