The Correspondence of Sir Ernest Satow in China (1900-1906)
Volume Three
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
This is the third volume in a series reproducing the China Correspondence of Sir Ernest Satow, a series which at the time of writing this is a work-in-progress. It comprises letters to Satow from consular staff at various consulates in China, listed alphabetically from Nanking to Yünnanfu with one more file of letters from Consular staff on leave. The series may extend to five or six hardcover volumes with a parallel paperback series.
Once again I am indebted to Dr. Andrew Hillier, Honorary Research Associate of the University of Bristol and author of Mediating Empire: An English Family in China, 1817-1927 (Folkestone: Renaissance Books, 2020) for his expert introduction to the second and this third volume which completes the letters from consulates. (See Volume Two for the introduction.)
