The Instructors' Handbook on Fieldcraft and Battle Drill (India) - Chapter II
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
With the transfer of personnel and the sharing of experience, the British Army's 'battle drill' movement inevitably spread to the Indian Army. With the official issue of the British Instructors' Handbook on Fieldcraft and Battle Drill, it wasn't long before the India produced a version tailored to their specific needs which, by 1943, was jungle warfare on the Burma front. Time being of the essence, the Indian Handbook was issued as individual chapters. The most relevant to the coming campaign was Chapter II - Section and Platoon Battle Drills for the Attack, so this was the first to be issued. Whilst the British archives contain most of the Indian Handbook's other chapters, this reprint is the only catalogued example of Chapter II. It should be pointed out that Chapter II did not delve too deeply into jungle tactics - it was issued alongside a separate pamphlet: Battle Drill for Thick Jungle 1943 (also available from Pawn Books)
