If you are a Frida Kahlo fan, you will enjoy this book that juxtaposes her life with mine, personally and artistically. In this book, she is Frida # 1, and I am relegated to the “Other” Frida # 2. Though she paints and I engage in digital works, we have many human parallels as artists who love their families, as trailing wives, and as health-marred individuals who still manage to pursue healthy careers covering topical issues like fractured bodies, trauma from chronic physical and mental pain and suffering, disability, and suicides. We are also patriotic and proudly display our Mexicanidad and “Rahtid, we little but we Tallawah” nationality in our works that feature nature and still-life elements, and we are not afraid of death and dying – we face it daily.
