Erika, a girl of nearly nine, lives happily with her widowed mother, of whom she is fiercely protective.
When her mother starts to date again Erika feels
very threatened. One particularly sad afternoon she makes the shocking discovery that the rockery - built by her and her beloved late father, had changed
radically. Astonished, she crosses the stream to
investigate, only to land in a world she is unable
to escape from until an important ‘work’ had been
completed. The problem is - she has no idea what
this mysterious task might be...
Isabel Hartman teaches music and drama to primary
school children. She lives in Queensburgh, South
Africa, in a picturesque century-old tin house very much like the one Erika shares with her mother...
