The Inevitable Slope to Everything

In his book, J. Charles Crawford examines the attitudes, platitudes and precedents utilized by the gay rights movement. No rock it left unturned in their fight to justify a more tolerant and inclusive society. But as the movement defends such inclusion, their arguments - moral, scientific and legal - can easily be applied to other alternate orientations no less deserving of rights enjoyed by gays and lesbians. It is in this attempt to separate “us” from “them” that troublesome and elitist pronouncements soon rear their ugly head. In our haste to accept misplaced notions of fairness, we discover that such fairness cannot be horded, even temporarily. As such, there is an inevitable price to pay…and a slippery slope to follow.
