In the 18th and 19th centuries Inveraray was the county town of Argyllshire in Scotland. As a result both the criminal court and prison were situated in the town on the shore of Loch Fyne. "A County Prison" tells the story of the prison and also reflects upon the reform movement which brought about changes in the mid-19th century.
