Love of Life and Other Stories

Published in 1907, Love of Life and Other Stories is another of Jack London's Klondike anthologies. A general theme here is the nature of survival and what it means, physically and also psychologically, to survive when death is so close. In the principle story, an unnamed character becomes separated from his companion and is forced to travel the northern wilderness alone, with dwindling supplies, scant available to hunt and hounded by bears and wolves, he nevertheless plods on driven by determination and a vain hope that safety and plentiful food will arrive soon.
