The Embedded Village: An Analysis Of A Samoan Village And It'S Landscape Context

Landscape architectural mapping, interpretation and analysis are used to investigate a rural catchment under pressure in Samoa. The village of Manase, the focus of this study, is currently operating several successful family-based tourist resorts. On the surface, the village and its associated resorts appear to be operating with a fairly high degree of social and environmental sustainability. This book investigates the landscape systems into which the village taps in order to understand the relationship between the village, the resorts and the environment.
