This is the sixth and final volume in the series. Casanova was never quite the same following his encounter with The Charpillon, but we do read here one last grand affair with a young woman who might have proved a comfort in his old age. But the social rigours of Spanish culture block him from marrying the cobbler's daughter because Casanova cannot show he is born from gentry.The final years of Casanova's life are missing from the autograph (the manuscript in his own hand).
