A Compendium of Improbable Beliefs does not exist as it appears in these pages. The text of Edgar Allan Poe short stories was digitally eliminated and replaced with the author’s photographs and passages. The reader is encouraged to ponder the intended links between the images and ideas presented in each page set.
A handmade version of this book was created utilizing the same content, but fashioned to enable the random pairing of almost any two pages.
Thus, the reader can create associations not imagined by the author. The resulting connections can become portals to one’s memories of feelings and thoughts, enabling fresh insights. The reader, in effect, can fashion his or her own unique book with each reading. With imagination, the reader of this version can embark on that same journey.
