Do not look for it in satellite images or on maps produced in the last 35 years. Elvaton Island no longer exists. Known locally as the vanished Yelbatin — sunken tomb of the Mistress of El — all that remains is the seamount on which this mysterious island once stood. Even the names and the actions of the persons responsible for its destruction have long been purged from the public records of the United States.
