The Stone-Campbell Movement, also referred to as the Restoration Movement, experienced significant growth in early to mid-19th century America. It was an endeavor to unify Christians on the basis of the perceived essentials of New Testament Christianity. Later on, this unity movement split three ways. This split, to a great degree, occured as a result of the subsequent developments of the Scientific Revolution. These developments have been a challenge to the Church, as a whole, as well--both Catholic and Protestant. In this collection of papers and essays, Dr. Strauss provides a perspective of the tremendous forces that have challenged and shaped the Church over the past four centuries, and calls upon the Church to present a prepared and informed witness in the face of the Post-Modernism of our current age. Paperback: 598 pages.
