If you can summarize an experience in 17 syllables, how do you go about it?
Jammy, despite being in her 30's, writes about her thoughts, her accidents, her adventures, her faults, her experiences, and her feelings. But she does this in the form of haiku, and mostly in Filipino.
She shares a few of them in her book, Haikupino: Haiku in Filipino Volume 1.
This book shows some of her different inner thoughts and fears, her various daydreams and questions, her daily struggles and challenges, and tries to understand, reflect, learn, and respect them, her surroundings, and herself in the process. To her, writing in Haiku helps her take note on the importance and significance of those experiences in her life, and helps her organize and capture the core of her feelings.
Palo wishes to share through Haikupino: Haiku in Filipino, that even though you might feel like you are alone or small, or if you feel that you are too far behind from others, or if you feel that you are the only one in this world full of people with accomplishments and achievements, you still matter and you are enough. You can take the time to move forward, regardless of how your rhythm flows to reflect and express your experience.
If you feel that being in your comfortable small space in a big world helps, you might relate to this book.
