A Reason to Trust

Melanie Carter, recently widowed in the devastating hurricane that struck her Galveston island home in 1900, is returning home to Beaumont to seek solace in the home of her mother. Determined to never trust her heart and run the risk of losing it again, she vows to remain a widow. She doesn’t count on handsome Jack Sullivan arriving in Beaumont to work in the booming Spindletop oilfield; however. When Jack rents a room in her mother’s boarding house, Melanie begins to realize it is more than a little difficult to ignore his charming ways, especially when Jack seems determined to win her heart.
