Jane Austen was a prominent British writer and novelist, widely known for her masterpiece: Pride and Prejudice (1813). She also wrote other books: Sense and Sensibility (1811), Mansfield Park (1814), Emma (1815), Northanger Abbey (1818) and Persuasion (1818). In her best-seller, Pride and Prejudice, a strong criticism against British high society persists, abuse of power by religious authorities, and the discrimination that women suffered at that time. This e-book is divided into the following sections: ● About the Author. ● Pride and Prejudice. ● Brief Summary of Pride and Prejudice. ● The Background of Pride and Prejudice. ● Conclusions. The first part is a synopsis of the author's literary career. The second is the book. The third presents a summary of this literary work. The fourth analyzes its background, in accordance with the author's vision. And the fifth outlines the final conclusions. In this literary work, with a romantic and even comic style, several characters participate, with different roles, vices and virtues, standing out: a) the winners and their collaborators, b) the ill-intentioned, and c) the supporters of those who acted unethically. It is also a moralistic and transformation story. In this regard, an antagonist became a hero! A classist, selfish, narcissistic, arrogant, conceited and rude character, who always acted under the premise: “the end justifies the means”; radically changes his life, fulfilling three marriages. Finally, this is a book about morality, ethics and justice, in favor of the fight against discrimination and in support of feminist movements.
