They were a fox and a wolf, two species who never should have met. Jeremiah the fox lived in a small cabin in a vast forest that separated their two villages. He was an outcast of sorts, in that he never quite fit in with the other foxes, so he chose to live alone. That is until by chance he came across a lone male wolf, injured in a particularly vicious trap and clearly near death from loss of blood. Jeremiah could have left the wolf there to die. After all, there was no love lost between foxes and wolves, who regularly hunted one another for sport. But instead he took pity on the wolf and dressed his wounds. He never wanted or even expected a close friendship to develop between them, and certainly could not foresee that the two would fall in love. Their relationship had to remain a secret, however, for should they be discovered both their peoples’ would surely hunt them down and kill them. Circumstances, however, would soon force the two lovers to not only reveal their hidden love for one another, but also somehow find a way to bring both their people together in order to fend off a looming danger. For if they failed in this, both their villages would surely perish.
