From April 28, 2008 until the printing of this book, we’ve have kept a cowboy's heart beating. As every bullet passed through him, as every spur touched the ground and every enemy cowered in fear, poets from Absolute Write’s poetry forum molded Hollis Brown into 15 gallons of something that would not fit into a 10 gallon hat. Hollis became tangible. We cared how he walked, what he wore, who he was seen with and how many rounds he had left in the chamber. And in doing so, we penned 73 poems. However, every finished work is more than that. These are the official dust-covered, yellowed pulp records of a cowboy whose reckoning sent shock waves from Topeka to Barstow. The work here is complete. It sets a new standard for telling stories in the Old West and welcomes the return of iconic memories like the OK Corral, High Noon and more. We invite you to turn every page with care. Hollis would have appreciated that.
