Oneonta, the Delaware and Hudson and Me

My personal history with the Delaware & Hudson Railway in Oneonta,NY dates back some 60 years to 1951. My grandfather loved trains and as early as the tender age of 8 years old I was accompanying him on visits to Oneonta just, as he often put it, “to watch the trains”. I consequently grew up with a passion for trains in general and the D&H in particular. I continued to follow the D&H as I grew up and I estimate that I made hundreds of visits to Oneonta over the ensuing years. As a result I was a witness to much of the history of the D&H at Oneonta. What follows is a somewhat abbreviated chronological history of my lifetime of personal experiences visiting the Delaware & Hudson Railway at Oneonta,NY. This book chronicles the many railroad adventures and experiences I had over a 60 year period (1951-2012). There are many memories, both fond and sad and I wish to share them. Now let’s go back in time and remember the D&H and Oneonta.
