Golde the Mother: The First Lost Tale of Mercia

“The Lost Tales of Mercia” is a series of ten swashbuckling short stories set in England near the end of the Viking Age. Read them in whatever order you may stumble upon them. Though fictional, they are heavily researched and feature many real historical figures. The First Lost Tale, “Golde the Mother,” is about the mother of Eadric Streona. It sheds light on Eadric’s strange childhood, and raises the question of who fathered the boy who would become notorious as one of the most treacherous men in England.
