The notes of encouragement are the result of daily notes transmitted via the internet to a good many folks around the country under the title, “Notes From The Pastor’s Trumpet”. The purpose of these notes is to encourage us to lift ours eyes above our daily trials and disappointments “unto the hills, from whence cometh my help” (Psalm 121:1); that is, to the sure promises of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On the night before He was crucified, the Lord candidly told His Apostles, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). As we seek to “take up the cross, and follow” the Lord (Mark 10:21), we should not be surprised when we “have tribulation”, we should be of “good cheer;” for the Lord has “overcome the world”, the source of our “tribulation”. It is good for us to be reminded daily that we have an Almighty “friend that sticketh closer than a brother” (Proverb 18:24), who will “never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5).
