A Short* History of Clan Mackintosh for Non-native Scots

ByJean Mackintosh Goldstrom

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
They were called "the fightingest clan in the Highlands." This is their story. A chapter is devoted to each of Clan Mackintosh's 31 chiefs, making a total of 31 chapters, preceeded by a Foreword and Prolog, and followed by a Postlog and Bibliography. The Postlog is unusual in that it names each of the 216 families making up Clan Mackintosh, whose surnames are not Mackintosh. This means that many people who do not realize it are already part of this legendary clan. Swords, shields, axes and thrown rocks -- these were the typical tools of Clan mackintosh since it started in the 1100s, in battle for the then-Scottish king. And Clan Mackintosh men led the charge in the last Highlands battle, in 1745, paying with the largest number of dead in the fateful battle of Culloden Moor, the one that marked the end of the clan way of life in the Highlands of Scotland. In between, things were rarely quiet for the Mackintoshes.
