This Thesis is written record of the research, ideas and execution of the Scenic Design for The Taming of The Shrew, which opened at Southern Illinois University Carbondale on November 9, 2005. Within this work there is analysis and research pertaining to William Shakespeare and this work. Shakespeare wrote more then 30 works for the Elizabethan Stage, this strongly influenced the scenic design, which is illustrated in the pre production chapter along with the journey the production team took to arrive at this realization. The Build and Production chapter focuses on the execution of the physical environment. A final chapter involving evaluations and responses to the work. Appendices illustrating the journey are also included, highlighting pictorial research, sketches, model work, draftings, painter’s elevations and production photographs. This accumulated information represents a whole and exciting look at our production of The Taming of The Shrew.
