"Dear Julia: Letters to My Unborn Daughter" is a series of letters written by a soon-to-be father to his not-yet-born child. Partly autobiographical and partly fictional – as are our lives – "Dear Julia" spans the course of a year, from before Julia’s conception to the moment before her delivery. In addition to chronicling the year’s events for father, mother, and child, "Dear Julia" also offers fatherly advice and lessons on life, sometimes gushing forth wisdom and sometimes just gushing. In both capacities, as diary and lecture, the letters to Julia teeter-totter from solemnity to jocularity as they mirror the joys and sorrows, desires and fears, clarity and confusion, excitement and monotony of life.
