Life in King Jesus' Colony

Essays on Royal Discipleship and Loyal Citizenship

ByJeremy Berg

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
This collection of three essays explores how Christians today can live faithfully as royal disciples and loyal citizens in King Jesus’ colony, being conformed to his Kingdom's values and transformed by his royal presence. The first essay, "Discipleship in the King’s Court," explores the origins of ancient education in the court of the king and Christian discipleship as training for royal service in King Jesus’ court. The second essay, "One Body, Many Ethnic Parts," explores Paul’s vision for unity-in-diversity found in a fresh exposition of 1 Corinthians 11-14. Written during very racially divided times, these insights could help the church become part of the solution rather than continuing to propagate the problem. Finally, the third essay, "Where Thou Dwelleth," addresses the common pastoral question, “Where is God?” by confronting the mistaken dualistic view and offering an alternative view of God’s abiding presence stemming from the theology of the Gospel of John.
