Young Timothy starts out our story, but he soon dies and his brother Alex comes into the picture. The object of their obsession is a baseball and the name on the baseball is very special. The old baseball is a special ball of sorts in that it wins ball games and many of them. In comes his older sister Carol and his younger sister Kate and they both have a part in his story. Alex’s mother Alice and his Father Arnold both play a part in his life and they both help hide a special secret.
