About Jerry Martin

Jerry Martin was a leader in the medical cannabis industry and a pioneer in harm reduction. He opened the first medical dispensaries in Saskatchewan before legalization, and filed a constitutional challenge against the Canadian government when he was raided and charged with trafficking and possession. He donated many of his proceeds to the small town that he lived in and touched many lives. He offered free products to customers in need of medicinal cannabis, donated to schools, churches and hospitals and after seven years, he won the case, but he lost all of his profits. Jerry ended up homeless and he relapsed after 15 years of being clean from drugs. Jerry tried to take on another advocacy project in Vancouver B.C. tackling the opioid crisis by offering a safe supply of drugs. He opened the first drug store, offering a clean, tested supply of heroin, cocaine, crack, meth and MDMA when B.C. decriminalized these drugs in 2023. Jerry planned to file another constitutional challenge against the government when they arrested him for these drug charges, but Jerry overdosed and died in June of 2023, before he could achieve this. He was nicknamed the King of Compassion during his 15 years of sobriety because of how giving he was and how often he would put the needs of others ahead of himself.
