In Praise of One of Rebecca’s Strongest Traits

ByJessica Harman

Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
These stories are an exercise in quiet desperation. The female protagonist in many of these stories is a grocery clerk, who finds herself on the shelf like many of the dusty, canned goods – that have never been touched. But her deep meditation on life keeps the reader engaged. The stories have a very poetic quality to them – that makes sense because Harman is a seasoned poet. It is good to see Harman write in this genre – and enjoy her many talents. — Doug Holder This tasty handful of stories pounces on the similarities of our existence and the inner-heartfelt need for connection. Jessica Harman places us in scenes with real people, in their homes, or rooms: at work, or attending get-togethers. The naked flaws in Harman’s characters are realistic and relatable, which gives off the same familiar intimacy you might have when you first meet someone and instantly know you will know them for a long time. — Timothy Gager
